Kits for Africa raises monies in the United States through various fund raising methods. We purchase kits and equipment at wholesale cost direct through a local South African sports distribution company who manage the distribution of the kits ensuring safe delivery. All organizations interested in our assistance have to complete a request form outlining their organization's objectives and agree to adhere to our requirements. All requests are reviewed by the Board to determine final approval.

Kits for Africa supports amateur athletic programs for children in poverty stricken areas across Southern Africa. We work in association with provincial and national sports unions, as well as grass roots organizations with a shared goal of reducing poverty and combating juvenile delinquency. We believe these youth development programs help children build confidence, develop new skills and strengthen principles. The funds raised by Kits for Africa will help leagues in suffering areas and will be used towards the purchase of kits.

With youth development program funding being cut back and unemployment at almost 25% in South Africa, it has become an increasing concern that much of the youth are being forced into a life of crime. In fact, it is estimated that 50 murders occur each day in South Africa. 30% of the population are 14 years of age or under and 26% of the population live below the international poverty line of $1.25 per day. That is why it is so important to keep the youth development programs running. We want to encourage these children through sports and foster their social skills so they can develop a sense of achievement and shun drugs, alcohol and crime.
